Eastern Long Island Hospital is a 90-bed, full-service, community hospital committed to delivering excellence in patient care and meeting all the health needs of the North Fork and Shelter Island. Established in 1905, Eastern Long Island Hospital is Suffolk County's first voluntary hospital and boasts a reputation for combining advanced technology with compassionate caring and extraordinary personal attention. Eastern Long Island Hospital proudly celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2005. ELIH, the first voluntary Hospital in Suffolk County, has a rich and progressive history. Its humble beginnings can be traced back to the Mansion donated by the Wood sisters in 1905. This Victorian structure remained a part of the Hospital campus through 1950.
